Step One
Avoid Fear – The Silent Killer of Dreams
Fear is invisible, yet it has destroyed more destinies than poverty, sickness, or even war. It is the unseen chain that binds men and women from pursuing greatness. Many people are not where they want to be today—not because they lacked intelligence, opportunities, or talents—but because fear whispered to them, and they obeyed.
Fear comes quietly. It does not shout. It whispers. It says:
“What if you fail?”
“What if people laugh at you?”
“What if you lose everything?”
“What if you are not good enough?”
And sadly, many listen to that voice and retreat. They stay in comfort zones, never realising that comfort zones are prisons with decorated walls.
The Story of Michael – A Life Trapped by Fear
Michael was a brilliant young man from Benin City. He had dreams of starting his own business, but every time he thought of it, fear would rise like a storm in his heart.
He would sit alone and argue with himself:
• “But what if I fail? My friends will laugh.”
• “What if I lose money? My family will blame me.”
• “What if I am not qualified enough?”
So Michael never started. Instead, he stayed at a job he hated. Years passed, and each day his spirit grew weaker. By the time he reached fifty, the same dream he once had was now a memory. And one evening, he said to his friend:
“The saddest thing in life is not death. The saddest thing is dying without ever living your dreams because fear kept you a prisoner.”
Michael’s story is not unique. It is the story of millions. Fear kills more dreams than failure ever could.

Fear is a Thief
Fear does not come to protect you; it comes to rob you of opportunities. It steals your confidence, your boldness, your creativity. It kills relationships, because people are afraid to love. It kills businesses, because people are afraid to take risks. It kills visions, because people are afraid to step out.
• Fear of failure keeps you from starting.
• Fear of rejection keeps you from speaking.
• Fear of poverty keeps you from investing.
• Fear of the unknown keeps you from exploring.
And here is the truth:
What you fear most is often the very door to your prosperity.
Dialogue: Fear vs. Faith
Imagine Fear and Faith standing in front of you, both whispering.
• Fear says: “Stay where you are. Don’t try. It’s dangerous.”
• Faith replies: “Move forward. Take the step. You are not alone.”
• Fear says: “People will mock you.”
• Faith replies: “Even if they mock you today, tomorrow they will celebrate you.”
• Fear says: “You don’t have enough resources.”
• Faith replies: “Start with what you have. Great oaks grow from small seeds.”
The question is: Whose voice will you obey?
Why Fear is a Silent Killer
Fear is silent because it does not need noise to destroy you. It only needs your consent.
• It does not force you; it suggests.
• It does not drag you; it delays you.
• It does not push you down; it keeps you standing still while the world moves on.
This is why many people reach the end of their lives full of regret. The opportunities they missed were not because of lack of intelligence but because they allowed fear to make their decisions.
Motivational Quotes to Kill Fear
• “Fear is a liar. It paints nightmares where God has designed dreams.”
• “The graveyard is full of dreams that fear buried alive.”
• “Every champion once trembled with fear, but they chose courage instead.”
• “Fear builds walls; courage builds bridges.”
A Call to Action
My friend, the first step in killing fear is to recognise it as your enemy. Do not pamper it. Do not justify it. Do not say, “I am just being careful.” No! Call it by its true name: a thief of destiny.
From today, whenever fear whispers, respond with courage. Say:
• “I refuse to die with my dreams inside me.”
• “I am bigger than my fears.”
• “I choose courage, I choose faith, I choose prosperity.”
