SOLUTIONS FOR NIGERIA
(A Motivational and Inspirational Sermon for National Revival)
By Dr. Lawrence Osifo
1st. Timothy 2; verses 1 to 4; says; “I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
A CRY FOR OUR NATION
Beloved, Nigeria is at a crossroads. Our land is blessed with riches of the soil, strength of the people, and the favour of heaven. Yet, the cries of the poor echo louder than the songs of joy. Our streets tell stories of struggle, our youths wander without purpose, our leaders sit in confusion, and our moral compass trembles like a candle in the storm.
But I want to declare today; there is hope for Nigeria! There is a solution, not in the strength of politicians, not in the power of foreign nations, but in the knees of the righteous!
1. THE CALL TO PRAYER
The Word says, “First of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.”
It doesn’t say second of all, or if you have time. It says first of all!
One may question; “But; what difference can prayer make when corruption is deep and leadership is broken?”
Such is to underestimate the power of the righteous prayer. The Bible says in James 5 verse 16, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” When men truly pray, God rearranges the thrones of power.
What I am saying that if Nigerians pray, things will change?
Yes! When Daniel prayed, the destiny of a nation was rewritten. When Elijah prayed, heaven opened and rain came down. When Esther fasted, genocide turned into celebration. When the Church in Nigeria begins to pray with purity and purpose, the wicked will lose their grip on our government, and the righteous will rise again!
2. WHEN THE RIGHTEOUS RULE
Proverbs 29 verse 2; says; “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.”
Our nation mourns because the righteous are silent. Our schools are broken because godly teachers are quiet. Our streets are unsafe because the watchmen have left the gates unguarded.
If the righteous men learn to pray, truly pray, then God will remove the wicked from positions of authority.
But; how can we tell who is righteous in these dark times?
The righteous are not perfect, but they fear God and pursue truth. They do not sell justice for money. They do not trade mercy for bribes. They walk in humility and uphold the Word of God.
3. THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN NATIONAL REBIRTH
1st. Timothy 2 verses 9 to 10; says; “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety… as women professing godliness with good works.”
The beauty of a nation lies not in its gold or oil, but in its godly women. Nigerian women should arise in modesty and prayer! Their intercession can turn this nation around.
We know that our society mocks women who live modestly. They say they are old-fashioned.
Let them mock! When women decide to choose godliness over vanity; heaven responds with smiles. A woman, who prays in her home, teaches her children the truth, and supports righteousness in her community is more powerful than a thousand corrupt leaders.
4. THE WILL OF GOD FOR NIGERIA
The will of God is not confusion! The will of God is salvation, peace, and righteousness. “His will is to have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
Our problem is not ethnic, it is spiritual. Our battle is not North versus South, or East versus West; it is Light versus Darkness!
God is calling us back to truth, back to unity, back to holiness, back to prayer.
We may be tempted to sometimes doubt; and to say; “We’ve prayed for years and the wicked still rule”.
The truth is; prayer without holiness is noise. But when holy hands rise, untainted by bribes and bitterness, heaven must respond. “The will of God therefore is that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”
5. NIGERIA SHALL RISE AGAIN
Nigeria, hear the word of the Lord! You shall rise from the ashes of corruption! You shall stand as a light to Africa! The bones of despair shall live again!
For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all — including Nigeria! Amen!
When Christ reigns in the hearts of our leaders, righteousness will flow like a river. When truth sits in the seat of power, justice will kiss mercy. When godliness rules our transport systems, education, police, and politics; — then, and only then, shall the people rejoice!
1. “A praying nation cannot remain a decaying nation.”
2. “When truth stands tall, corruption bows low.”
3. “Revival begins not in government halls but in praying hearts.”
4. “No reform is complete until the heart of man is reformed.”
5. “Nigeria’s greatness will not come from oil, but from righteousness.”
10 PRAYERS FOR NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION
(Let every heart lift these prayers with faith and power.)
1. Father Lord, thank You for the roads, railways, airways, and waterways of Nigeria. We bless Your name for giving us movement and connection.
2. O God of wisdom, rebuild our transport systems with integrity and innovation. Remove those who misuse public funds meant for development.
3. Lord Jesus, protect all travellers on Nigerian roads. Deliver us from reckless drivers, road accidents, and bloodshed on the highways.
4. Holy Spirit, breathe new life into our aviation sector. Restore safety, punctuality, and discipline in our airports.
5. Father of Mercy, grant our government leaders the vision to modernise transport infrastructure for all citizens.
6. O Lord, let corruption, bribery, and negligence in road construction and maintenance come to an end in Jesus’ name.
7. Lord God Almighty, raise up righteous engineers, planners, and transport officials who will fear You and serve with honesty.
8. Heavenly Father, let our rail system connect every region in peace and unity, fostering trade, tourism, and understanding.
9. God of protection, station Your angels on our roads, buses, and trains. No evil shall befall the travellers of Nigeria.
10. O Lord of nations, make our transport sector a channel of blessing, progress, and prosperity — that Nigeria may move forward in safety and strength, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
Nigeria will not die in corruption! Nigeria will live in righteousness! The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the cries of despair! Let the Church arise, let truth reign, let righteousness be enthroned, and let every heart declare: — Nigeria shall be great again!
