WHO IS THE RATEL?The Ratel is also called the Honey Badger because of its fondness for honey and bee larvae. It is muscular, compact, with a thick skull, well-developed neck and strong forelegs armed with massive claws for digging. 2. BUILT FOR BATTLE• Thick, Loose Skin: One of the thickest skins in the animal kingdom – can shrug off bee stings, porcupine quills, and even dog bites. • Venom Resistant: It hunts and eats venomous snakes like cobras. It can be bitten, sleep off the venom, and wake up to continue eating. • Fearless Heart: It will attack lions, leopards and hyenas when cornered. The South African military named their personnel carrier after the Ratel for its toughness. 3.
